GC Launches “Golden Watches” Alternative to Golden Globes

SILVER SPRING, Md. — The General Conference offices of the Adventist Church announced an Adventist answer to the Golden Globe awards yesterday. The brand new Golden Watch awards will “celebrate the very best in completely compliant Adventist film and television,” said a press release about the ceremony. The logo for the event will be the ultimate Adventist status symbol: a Rolex watch. The logo was chosen as the Rolex has long been established as the flashiest non-jewelry in the denomination. The Golden Watch awards will celebrate the best of the best in programming from 3ABN, Hope Channel, Amazing Facts and It is Written. Non-compliant programming featuring ordained women or Sabbath swimming will not be considered for awards. Such programming is already celebrated at the Adventist Oscars, otherwise known as Sonscreen.
