HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The award-winning Aeolians of Oakwood University will feature on the big screen in upcoming acapella movie Pitch Perfect 3.

The film’s casting directors pitched the Aeolians on appearing in the movie following their first place choral performance win at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, a Wales-based music and dance festival.

At first the Adventist choir was reluctant to appear in a secular feature film unless it promoted vegetarianism or was directed by Mel Gibson.

The Aeolians reluctantly agreed to the movie deal after assurances that they would be performing gospel music in the film.

A deal was struck in which the group would perform an acapella gospel rendition of Don’t Forget the Sabbath in Pitch Perfect 3’s final competition scene.

Earlier in the film, Pitch Perfect’s the Bellas led by Anna Kendrick’s Beca and Rebel Wilson’s Fat Amy characters will battle Take 6, the legendary acapella group that also traces its roots to Oakwood.

The final competition is set to place well after sunset on a Saturday in the film, rescheduled from Friday by special request from the Aeolians who said their song would “make no sense otherwise.”
