LONG HORN, Neb. — An Adventist pastor has completely lost hearing in his right ear after some unforeseen difficulties at a baby dedication last Sabbath.

Pastor Ore Haagh of Trumpet Sound Adventist Church was halfway through his dedication remarks when the baby he was holding let out a scream that Haagh later described as being “completely disproportionate to the infant’s size.”

The piercing scream was quickly replaced by a ringing sound in his right ear that stayed with Haagh for the rest of the day.

“It felt like I was listening to an especially awful bell choir all Sabbath long,” said Haagh.

By Sunday morning the ringing sound had been replaced by complete silence. A medical check-up today confirmed that Haagh was completely deaf in the ear.

A somber Haagh left his doctor’s office this afternoon determined to delegate future baby dedications to his associate pastor. He also made a mental note to remember to lend church complainers his right ear.

  1. Are you sure it wasn’t that dear old female saint who sings way off key during the opening hymn? The baby was only reacting to this extra high pitch voice coming from the back of the church where this dear saint sits each week. I ought to know!
