Local Adventist Joe Hashbrown has decided to “take a stand against the patriarchal volunteerism culture that has oppressed church ladies for centuries. “
“I’m just too spiritual for all that,” stated Hashbrown with an air of unearned self-importance, “Whenever the nominating committee comes calling, I simply tell them ‘I don’t want to be a Martha.'”
Hashbrown explained that doing little things like cooking meals, cleaning the church, and treating people like humans is “sooo Martha” and that, as a matter of principle, he would not let himself get dragged into it.
“I’m a Mary, donchaknow. I just want to sit and soak in spiritual vibes without all the distractions of hospitality or basic human decency.”
