Pastors’ Wives Win Back Pay For Years Of Unpaid Labor

FINALLY: The US Supreme Court has ruled to award Adventist pastors’ wives backpay for all the unpaid work they have done simply because of their marriage to a pastor. In the ruling, the justices specified the backpay should be calculated “right from the very first Sabbath everyone just assumed the pastor’s wife would run cradle roll, Pathfinders, potluck and church decoration subcommittees while making sure her own kids behaved and her husband’s tie was straight.” Bonus pay will be awarded to pastor’s wives who were able to talk their husbands out of long sermons.

My grandmother spent a lifetime working for free, including founding a school that is still going strong. The only time she ever was paid was at Union College as a student where she earned 9 cents an hour.
