Pope Francis arriving in Manila…
MANILA, Philippines — Still acclimating to the heat and humidity after his arrival in the Philippines, Pope Francis paid a quick visit to Manila Adventist Medical Center (better known as Manila Sanitarium) in the Pasay district of Metro Manila.

“This is probably unnecessary but we want to take every precaution as Pope Francis is 78 years old and the tropical heat can be a bit of an adjustment,” said a papal aide at a busy press briefing in the hospital’s lobby.

Physicians at Manila Sanitarium gave Pope Francis a clean bill of health after which delegations from the hospital administration; Adventist University of the Philippines and the nearby Adventist International Institute of Adventist Studies (AIIAS) took the pope on a quick tour of the hospital facilities. “We had the day off anyway so we thought we’d be polite,” said AIIAS Public Relations Director, Romero Santacruz, explaining his delegation’s presence.

Pope Francis expressed his gratitude for the hospitality of the Adventist welcoming party. “I always feel safer with an Adventist hospital nearby,” he joked. The Catholic leader reserved his highest praise for the tasty vegetarian food at the Manila Sanitarium cafeteria. “This food is delicious,” he said, touching his fingers to his lips. “You may even convince an old Argentine to go vegetarian!”

Quick Reminder for the Comment Section: Every post on BarelyAdventist is satirical. As in, the news story you just read was not literally real. The “satrically Adventist” tag and the “About” section make that abundantly clear. This blog is written by committed Adventists that believe that humor, satire and symbolism are great ways to discuss Adventist faith, culture and other issues. This it not a place for hotheads. Rude, judgmental comments or other attacks will be deleted. On the other hand, if you feel you can contribute to the discussion in a constructive and friendly “inside voice”, then have at it!

What you failed to mention was the exact food the Pope ate at the Sanitarium. He was served the Special K Loaf with phony chicken gravy, peas & carrots, raw salad and a couple of Loma Linda veggieburgers and a bunch of Big Franks for the security staff. Many cups of Roma with soy milk and soy sugar were also consumed. A good time was had by all!! BURP!! Woe is me.

even though hes in a different church, you must accept those in need of medical service so that you will be a blessing.

        ACTS 10:28
He said to them: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean.

  2. LOL, you got me there, Barely Adventist. I glanced at the article and immediately told my partner (not of SDA background), “Can you believe this! The SDAs call the Pope the antichrist, and he lets them handle his health!” I then glanced back at the article and immediately saw your logo. But you sure had me for a second!

Ellen white said that people who recive jesus much of them are from chatolic.
    And the adventist are less…

May i suggest to take this article out. I’m an Adventist and I don’t find this amusing. If we are satirically making fun of other peoples belief we are being disrespectful especially making fun of a religious figure/leader of another religion. As an Adventist I would personally apologize for the people who finds this offensive and misleading but this article is not supported by the General Conference nor the NPUC. To the person who wrote this article, It’s okay to make jokes as long as they are relevant and unoffensive.

Very good article. Congratulation! I enjoy it with my wife and our friends. For few minutes we were about to remain without identity. Our “worst enemy” was becoming a friend. What if one day the pope will become a SDA. Than, what it will be our next agenda? Seems that we may have no purpose without the pope. God open our eyes! Amin!

Checked up and eating veggies never happened. Pope has with doctors to check him every now and then. Please writer-liar do not mess with this kind of article. You really are making a mess..

  7. We can learn a lesson from this post. It is more of an experiment of how people blindly believe something that makes them feel happy or proud. I like this because of its genius idea of tricking lots of people despite it having the disclaimer up there…. and yet, a lot of people are fooled. You may find this offensive or attention-seeking. But I just find it funny and amusing.

  9. I normally enjoy the satirical fiction on this site, but this fictitious article could be taken the wrong way by our brethren of other faiths. The stated purpose of this blog is to have good-natured fun regarding things idiomatic to our Adventist culture. We should not publish humor at the expense of another denomination. In other words, I enjoy a good joke, but I think this particular one may go a little too far.

The knot heads posting here that have no sense of humor. Now I understand why when I walk into most Adventist churches there is no one under the age of 80 in the congregation. Also why so many of our churches in NA have closed. Get a life people , why do come here to read it any way. ?

  11. I like how you present and maintain all of the details as well as your overall writing style.
At times, there’s a scarcity of time to
read lengthy bits, but is brief and concise, I spent
just a few minutes to read the whole article. It is essential since no one has sufficient time to
    read.
