GC: Women can be ordained as housewives

Officially ordained…
SILVER SPRING, Md. — General Conference officials have been working hard to offer some form of concession to placate advocates of women’s ordination who were bitterly disappointed by the GC San Antonio “No” vote on the issue. Although the vote result means that regionally-approved women’s ordination for pastoral ministry is not sanctioned by the world church, the General Conference has pledged wholehearted support for the ordination of women as housewives.

“We don’t even need a vote to greenlight this one,” said newly-elected GC Director of Status Quo Maintenance, Stan Stihl. “We are absolutely certain that Adventist power brokers around the world will gladly give their blessing to the practice of the ordination of women as housewives.”

Expressing full confidence that the egos of aging male leaders would remain fully intact should this “reasonable form of ordination” be introduced, Stihl expressed hope that the practice would satisfy “the equality agitators.”

Stihl stressed that unlike uppity attempts to ordain women for the ministry, giving women the full responsibilities of being housewives “has a convincing, international and historical precedent” and would therefore cause far less friction between brethren if introduced as formal policy worldwide.

“Ordaining Adventist women as housewives will simply keep a good thing going,” said Stihl. “Whether or not they work outside the household, Adventist women are excellent housekeepers. Ordination will just give the whole arrangement some gravitas so things don’t change.”

What about the wives of SDA workers and other professionals who must hold the second job just to keep going? I’m agin’ it! Say it ain’t so! Woe is me.

The really great part of this decision is that BOTH men and women can be ordained AND they will get EQUAL pay! How great is that?

And here you doubted our courageous (mostly overweight, white, male) leadership after that seriously demented previous vote.

GOOD, I’LL GO GET SOME MALE TO HELP ON SABBATH AND THIS WAY AVOID BREAKING THE LAW, AND I CANT PAY HIM BECAUSE ITS SABBATH, AND HE IS NOT FAMILY SO THATS OK, AND HE IS NOT A GUEST SO THATS OK, SO THAT MAKES HIM A VOLUNTEER AND THAT IS, OK. LIKE IT.

  3. What a brilliant move on the GC’s part! And I love the name of the “newly-elected GC Director of Status Quo Maintenance,” Mr. “Stan Stihl.” I think it’s more than “standing still;” it’s positive regression!

There’s another solution, too: I’m sure the GC would not mind if these women seek ministerial ordination online. They could all get ordained for free by the Universal Life Church, which ordains movie stars, warlocks, atheists, or anyone else over age 13 (apparently even some cats and dogs, and a couple of parakeets); a certificate suitable for framing is only $29.95. 🙂

The real reason woman can’t get ordained, is that SDA leadership are afraid of “laying on of hands” on a woman other than their own wife in public. GOD FORBID they could get a woody right there on the platform, on Sabbath morning……then what would they do ?????????

  4. It’s not the first time I briefly read satirical articles about our Church. I think they are not funny at all. They are stupid. Quintessence of idiocy. For sure they don’t help to lead unchurched people to Jesus. It flatters those who are critical and cynical about the Church and nourish their unproductive action within the Church. Nowadays we try to do the buzz even within our Church. I specify that I’m the kind of believer who is ok with women’s ordination, for balanced practice of principles such vegetarianism, jewelry, worship music… just in case some would quickly come to the conclusion that my post come from an ultra conservative Adventist.

A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:22
Sorrow is better than laughter, For by a sad countenance the heart is made better. Ecclesiastes 7:3
For in much wisdom is much grief,
And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.
      Ecclesiastes 1:18
Go, eat your bread with joy, And drink your wine with a merry heart; For God has already accepted your works.
      Ecclesiastes 9:7
Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
      Ecclesiastes 11:9
      …all is vanity!
