SILVER SPRING, Md. — Thousands of dedicated Hope Channel viewers are getting ready to set their electric blankets to medium, brew cups of Postum and spread healthy dollops of soy cheese on Ezekiel bread later than ever before. The reason? The Hope Channel is launching a brand new 60-minute Late Night Show which will air at 6:30 PM EST/PST starting January 1, 2015.

“I am so excited, I can barely contain myself,” said 67-year old Matilda Gray who will be hosting a huge debut program viewing party for herself and several of her friends. “I don’t usually do anything this crazy but I am popping a Martinelli’s for this one.”

Gray said that she’d gone through a torturous back-and-forth internal dialogue before scheduling a social event that would end so late at night. She shared that she had made her final decision after a particularly riveting promotional segment for the show promising a cheerful host with decades of experience at Adventist World Radio, Guam, as well as a steady flow of chipper guests ready to discuss the healing properties of charcoal at the drop of a hat.

“My husband and I have a lot of space with the kids all grown up so I’ve invited all my friends from church,” said Gray. “I’ve told people they can always sleep over if they don’t want to drive home late at night.”

As I watch Hope TV, I’m gonna fill up with an extra large haystack and a soy flavored root beer. There could be a time conflict with the city commuters arriving home late each night, including the Friday night portion of the Sabbath. Not easy guarding the edges of the Sabbath. Maybe re-runs on Sabbath? Woe is me!!
