Instead of learning traditional rules about how best to construct and successfuly light a teepee fire, instructors are telling impressionable young Pathfinders simply to lob a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 at a pile of wood.
Pathfinders spokesperson Priesen Taerms cited a need to simplify instruction of essential camping skills.
“Let’s not overcomplicate fire building,” said Taerms. “It only takes a spark— from a Note 7—- to get a fire going..”

This was really funny. You all do such a great job of poking good clean fun at us!
You gotta have a plan b. This method ain’t gonna work at the next Camporee. Stick to the lighter stick Works every time. Gotta go and roast me a some Little Debbies S’mores. Woe iz me.
AHH, PATHFINDERS, CAMPOREES. ONE OF MY FAVORITE PRANKS AS A KID WAS ORDERING PIZZAS FOR OUR NEIGHBORING CAMPERS AT A COMPOREE BACK IN THE 90’S. WE WAITED FOR THE PIZZA GUY TO SHOW UP AT HE GATE, THEN HE GOT ESCORTED TO THE FOLKS NEXT DOOR. THE CONFUSION AT THE CLUB CAMP SITE WAS FUNNY TO WATCH. WORSE YET, WE PLACED THE ORDER FOR FRIDAY NIGHT. OOOPS.
Gotta be some expensive camp fires… But kids now a days get plenty of pocket money with them on camps… So neat trick! (Hopefully soon, a cheaper model will be able to do the same… But technology is fast, so it probably won’t take long before other models will have the same ‘feature’?)
Yes, I believe Samsung will introduce this feature into upcoming cheaper models. Also, they’ve agreed to disable this feature whenever the phone is put into “airplane mode” (which should address a lot of the world’s concerns). And since “airplane mode” would typically not be invoked in a camp fire setting, everyone will now be happy.
