Michigan Conference Pedometer Measures Sabbath Steps

Lansing, Mich. — In an effort to enforce Sabbath observance guidelines, the Michigan Conference is distributing pedometers that will measure steps taken by Adventists on Sabbath. Pedometer data will be transmitted to the conference office in real time. Members that take over 2,000 Sabbath steps (about a mile) will be written up for “Unsabbathy Overexertion.” Repeat offenders will have their mugshots clearly posted on a full-color “Badventist” poster that will be on display in all church lobbies. If public outing doesn’t change their behavior, offending Adventists will just be sent to the Pacific Union.
