Does Volunteering Count If You Haven’t Posted About It On Social Media?

We gotta know:

Is volunteering worth the time unless you can let the whole world know what you are doing with an action shot of you saving the manatees/serving soup/tutoring with a #simplyservice?

Without the validation of some likes and the status of successfully one-upping your friends’ more mundane volunteering gigs (how hard can it really be to coach little league?), should you really be spending your energy on stuff that doesn’t directly boost your bank account?

Is service really service unless you can upload the gleaming faces of the beneficiaries of your kindness on some faraway shore and a text about helping “the least of these?”
