Why Be Adventist When There Are So Many Great Churches?

Share

Adventism thrives for the same reason it frustrates: it refuses to simplify God.

Sure, there are amazing churches everywhere. Better music. Smoother systems. Instagram-worthy coffee. But Adventism doesn’t exist to be pretty or popular. It exists to wrestle with the whole story.

We believe Jesus paid the full price at the Cross. Completely. Once and for all. Salvation is not in doubt, not in progress, not up for renegotiation.

And because the Cross is settled, Adventism insists on asking what that finished work means for everything else.

  • The Sabbath says time itself belongs to God—and that your worth isn’t measured by how busy you are.
  • The state of the dead says death is sleep, not a cosmic horror show or eternal torture chamber.
  • Health and wholeness say bodies matter—convictions that built hospitals and schools across the globe.
  • The Sanctuary says the Cross was complete, but God is still doing the hard work of restoration—where justice and mercy finally meet.
  • The Second Coming says history has a destination: evil ends, hope becomes physical, and God actually fixes what’s broken.

Adventism refuses to chop up what God keeps together: grace and law, faith and reason, this world and the next.

Messy? Absolutely.
Awkward? Frequently.
Unfinished? Always.

But Adventism exists because someone had the audacity to believe God cares about everything—not just souls on Saturday morning.

That’s why I’m Adventist.
