Adventist Netflix Companion App Suggests Fast-Forward Scenes For Titles

Share

SILVER SPRING, Md. — In an attempt to “take the awkwardness out of movie night,” the Adventist Church has created HopStop, a companion app to Netflix.

HopStop covers every show or movie on Netflix. Tolerable titles that contain scenes requiring fast-forwarding are categorized as ‘Hops.’

The app buzzes one minute before each fast-forward scene and sets off an old-school Sabbath School bell when it’s time to fast-forward or ‘hop’ to the next scene.

Titles that qualify as “Stops” are off limits to Adventists. The app delivers a mild electric shock to the user to prevent so much as a preview of the objectionable title.

Data on users that ignore HopStop’s recommendations will be made available on the app’s companion site, RemnantCop.
