MISSION COORDINATOR Elder Sterling Glass has broken down while describing how a “catastrophic deluge” of actual rain in the mission field totally ruined his scheduled spiritual retreat to Belize.
“I was just finalizing the sunset yoga—I mean, sunrise prayer—itinerary when the news broke,” a clearly shaken Glass told reporters. “The local village is underwater. The flood has completely overwhelmed the five-star eco-lodge’s defenses, making it impossible for our team to reach the mission site.”
The group had planned a grueling ten-day “Selfless Service” tour, which included three hours of painting a church fence and seven days of rigorous snorkeling for “oceanic ministry.”
“You can understand my anguish,” Glass sobbed. “I had to cancel the entire catamaran outreach program just because the church we were going to paint is currently a submarine. It’s a total washout for my spiritual growth.”
