The next General Conference Session promises to be a nail-biter. Forget about pronouncements on women’s ordination or eschatological debates. This time, the minds at the GC are laser-focused on the
most pressing theological issue of our time: compiling a definitive list of Sabbath-appropriate cartoons.

Imagine the scene: renowned theologians huddled around a projector screen, meticulously dissecting the comedic stylings of Garfield and Scooby-Doo.  Is Snoopy’s constant napping truly Sabbath-observant, or is it a slippery slope towards idleness? Can Popeye’s spinach-fueled feats of strength be deemed inspirational, or do they promote violence?

The pressure is on.  After all, the future of Adventist leisure hangs in the balance. Will Marge Simpson’s signature hairdo be flagged for vanity?  Is SpongeBob’s relentless optimism a threat to a healthy dose of Adventist stoicism?

Sources report heated debates over the theological implications of Road Runner’s perpetual defiance of the laws of physics.  One particularly conservative delegate reportedly argued that Wile E. Coyote’s constant failures represent a cautionary tale against the dangers of meddling in God’s work.

While the outcome remains uncertain, one thing is clear: Adventist families everywhere are eagerly awaiting the verdict. Will their Saturday mornings be blessed with the wholesome chuckles of Dennis the Menace, or will they be relegated to reruns of nature documentaries narrated by David Attenborough in his dulcet tones? Only time (and the GC) will tell.
