LOMA LINDA, Calif. — A sing-off has been announced between the Kings Heralds and the Heritage Singers to settle a decades-old rivalry between the two Adventist gospel music groups.
The hotly anticipated event will take place next Saturday night at Loma Linda University Church. Fans of the two groups will be seated on opposing sides of the sanctuary and, while Southern Californian Adventists have no problem with clapping, the audience is requested to refrain from booing the competition.
“We’re sure each side will bring their ‘A game,'” said event coordinator Sesga Da. “Both groups have literally waited for decades to prove they can out-gospel the other side.”
Local Adventist centenarians will serve as judges for the sing-off as they have been around even before the Kings Heralds got their start almost 90 years ago.
“We’ve reminded the judges to wear their hearing aids,” said Da.
