Adventist evangelists ordered to stop using revolving doors to boost baptismal tallies

Retention anyone?

SILVER SPRING, Md. — In a push to retain new members, the Adventist Church has ordered its evangelists to stop using revolving doors in campaigns held around the world.

While prized the world over as a highly effective tool for ferrying potential converts into stadium-sized evangelistic campaigns, revolving doors have been exposed by analysts as being just as good at losing recent converts from the church.

“Just because we are launching mega campaigns about the Second Coming and baptizing record numbers doesn’t mean we can put less energy into becoming the kind of church where people feel valued,” said Adventist Retention Analyst, Aska Wumann.

“If we put all our resources into better and better revolving doors, people will come and go before we even know their names.”
