WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former neurosurgeon and one-time Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has turned down a job offer from US President-Elect Donald Trump.

Carson said despite his support for Trump’s administration, he did have some limits and setting up shop in the Vatican as US ambassador was one of them.

The Adventist icon said that although he had lots of Catholic friends and thought the pope was a nice guy, he still was “as Protestant as they come so there would be a major conflict of interest.”

Carson also shied away from any other Trump cabinet positions, prefering to remain in his role as an outsider advisor due to his complete lack of government experience.

“If President-Elect Trump wants to talk neurosurgery trivia or is interested in making haystacks the national dish, I am at his disposal,” said Carson.
