NEW YORK, N.Y.— After dropping President Donald Trump’s 2005 tax returns on a curious public yesterday, MSNBC has promised to release Adventist tithing records today.
The tithing records of all baptized Adventists will be released online in a searchable database this afternoon.
Rachel Maddow will follow the database release with an in-depth analysis of the tithing habits of high-profile Adventists on her show tonight.
MSNBC executives agree that the release of Adventist tithing records doesn’t quite constitute the bombshell that was the closely-guarded Trump tax returns.
However, they decided to go ahead with airing the tithing numbers as, in the words of management, it was “certain to grow Adventist viewership. And in today’s crowded TV space, we’ll take any boost to viewership numbers we can get.”
So far the General Conference headquarters has not commented on the tithing information leak other than to say that “perhaps some public accountability will be the kick in the pants some of our stingiest members needed.”
